The need

Hundreds of collaborations between French and Australian researchers are underway, in fields from fundamental physics to high-tech manufacturing to environmental protection.

The client was producing a showcase of these stories, to be launched at an event at the French embassy. The client needed experienced science writers to help pull the publication together.

Our solution

Writing about science and scientists requires a range of skills and a series of steps. To deliver this series of pieces, Claire:

  • contacted and interviewed researchers, developing questions that would result in interesting and informative information and quotes
  • read background information about the research and technology
  • sourced relevant images
  • drafted the stories using best practice science communication skills, weaving in quotes from spokespeople and key messages
  • managed the review process with researchers
  • edited the final engaging, informative stories
  • liaised with the client, ensuring their needs and timelines were met.
