The need
Farmers need practical, actionable information about agricultural best practices. Incredible scientists are conducting experiments and field trials and discovering new knowledge all the time. Translating that research knowledge to practical insights for farmers can be challenging and time-consuming.
The Tips and Tactics project ran for a number of years, funded by Grains Research and Development Corporation. They commissioned Seedbed Media to manage the project. Claire was contracted to deliver a number of fact sheets from concept to completion.
Our solution
The project included liaising with scientists, interviewing them to understand the key messages and research results, writing, editing, layout (working with graphic designers) and managing approvals with stakeholders and clients.
Claire also managed reporting and project tracking and liaised with the end client. Claire was an integral member of the project team.
Results
The client, GRDC, was extremely happy with the fact sheets and continued to fund the project for many years. Scientists were positive about the process of working with Claire and the Seedbed Media team and also found the products useful for demonstrating their pathway to impact from their research.
Claire is a skilled and knowledgeable science communicator with a passion for excellence. During her time with Seedbed Media, Claire distilled complex grains research material into fact sheets for producers. Working at the intersection between researchers, funding organisations and growers can be challenging — particularly when negotiating timelines and priorities with others.
Claire was the ultimate professional at all times. She effectively kept her eye on the end goal: helping Australia’s primary producers implement best practice based on the best available science. I highly recommend Claire.
